Disgusting News for the day…
Some days I read the news and come away from it feeling good - that things are going well. Other days there’s nothing that changes anything I had any interest in - so Paris Hilton is sueing somebody for pictures they posted. Big deal.
Then there are the days when you read something at least twice to be sure you got it right. Like Kerry denigrating the troops - and then hearing him later claiming to apologize - on both occasions using the same hypocritical arrogance.
Today was one of those days. A meatball by the name of William Arkin in The Washington Post Blog decided to take out his frustration about patriotism by saying:
The Troops Also Need to Support the American People
I’ve been mulling over an NBC Nightly News report from Iraq last Friday in which a number of soldiers expressed frustration with opposition to war in the United States.
I’m sure the soldiers were expressing a majority opinion common amongst the ranks - that’s why it is news - and I’m also sure no one in the military leadership or the administration put the soldiers up to expressing their views, nor steered NBC reporter Richard Engel to the story.
I’m all for everyone expressing their opinion, even those who wear the uniform of the United States Army. But I also hope that military commanders took the soldiers aside after the story and explained to them why it wasn’t for them to disapprove of the American people.(Italics mine)
I won’t bore you with more of the insults. You can read it at The Washington Post Blog. If you care to.
Kim Priestap at Wizbang has a dissection of Arkin’s rant.
Uncle Jimbo rips Arkin a new one and Matt at Blackfive also criticizes Arkin’s excess.
Feel the burn.
Arkin represents everything that conservatives think leftists really are - but wish they were wrong about.
And just to get on the right side of things, Badger6 at Badgers Forward has a post on Democracy in Iraq. From someone with boots on the ground and in the thick of it, this is a great perspective. If you care to read his post, you’ll feel better knowing that people like Badger6 completely upstage opinions from dirtbags like Arkin.
